Gravity’s official Guide to Lighting your Wedding

When it comes to weddings - details matter! Here at Gravity, we understand that the smallest piece of the gigantic wedding planning puzzle can sometimes make the most impact. Excellent lighting is one of those pieces. Spending a little bit of time and headspace thinking about your lighting can transform the atmosphere of your wedding.

Whether it is something simple such as fairy lights, festoons, or uplights, or something with a bit more “pow” like gobos, spots, and other lighting effects - great lighting can add ambience, help you get the most out of your photos/video, enhance your venue and with great lighting, a little bit goes a long way! Gravity is here to help guide you through some great lighting options ranging from simple but effective, to a bit more advanced with a bigger impact.

Simple but Effective:

Fairy Lights

This is our old reliable and for a good reason. Gravity has a wide range of fairy light options for you to look into using for your wedding day, including a variety of types of fairy lights as well as fairy light curtains (perfect if you are looking to create a backdrop behind a bridal table or your altar.) Fairy lights are perfect to add ambience and can be used for decor however they shouldn’t be used as your one and only light source - especially when it comes time to eat at your reception (we want to see that yummy food!)

We have 3 options for you to choose from when it comes to the type of light you might like from your fairy lights;

Warm White: A popular option as it gives a warm sort of glow - this is the perfect lighting to create warm, welcoming environments and is also a bit more intimate.

Cold White: A lot brighter than the warm white - this is a good option if you are having multiple colour themes at your wedding as it gives off a pure white feel.

Black Copper: Similar to the warm white however the outer wire is black - this is a great option if you are looking to create a “fairy light roof” or if your venue is dark and you are looking for a bit of intimate lighting.

Festoons

As our most Pinterest-able lighting option, festoons are quickly becoming a wedding classic with their funky bulbs. They give off a warm white light which will add a sense of intimacy to any reception or evening ceremony. Historically festoons are used outside, but we are seeing more and more people bring this on-trend style inside venues making interesting chandeliers, lining the roof of a space, or even using them to add a bit of pizzazz to a photo wall. Our Festoons come in connectable lengths so the possibilities are endless with the need for only one power source.

Uplights

Uplights are a Gravity favourite! Why you may ask? Well, most of the time when we think about ways to transform the atmosphere of an event we always grab our battery uplights! Battery uplights will enhance your venue, we usually scatter these along the outside of a reception space to light up the walls - not only does this add beautiful ambient lighting but it also will add dynamics to your space. This is also a great way to get better lighting in your venue so you can have better photos! Our LED uplights have over 31 colour options so you can also use this to add to any theme you may have at your wedding or any colour scheme. Add

Gig Bars

Looking for a great way to get the party started on the dancefloor? A great and simple way to light up the D-floor is with our Gravity Gig Bars. A Gravity Gig Bar senses the beat and its lights will move to that beat and dance along with you. Only requiring a simple setup; place the gig bar near your DJ, Band, or speaker with your playlist, plug it into power, make sure it is on the right setting and you’re dancing the night away!

Advanced with a bigger impact:

If you are along the mindset that bigger is better then we have some more advanced lighting options available for you as well!

Gobos

If you are looking to create a bit of drama in your venue space then look at gobos. We have a variety of inserts available including leaves, stars, and other patterns. This option will really give the wow factor to your wedding!

Moving heads

Similar to our Gravity gig bars - moving heads will pick up the beat and dance along with you! You can also get one of our Gravity Crew to programme these to do different movements. If you LOVE to shake your booty on the Dancefloor then you should definitely look into this.

Spots

Weddings are one of those events where all eyes are on you! If you love the spotlight then add a spotlight from Gravity that loves you back! This is an awesome way to add to the drama of your wedding, whether this is to have a spotlight following you for your first dance or a great way to make sure all eyes are on you as you enter the venue.

Smoke machines/Low fog

Not only does Gravity offer a lot of lighting options for your wedding but we also offer a lot of lighting effects like smoke machines or low fog machines. Perfect if you are looking for a “Dancing on the clouds” effect for your first dance or again a great way to add a bit more drama to your space.

Light up Dance floor

Make your dancefloor one to remember! Our sound-activated dance floor will transform your area into an epic dance space that will keep people going all night long.

Sparklers

Let the sparks fly at your wedding with Gravity. Our sparklers are perfect if you are looking to add a bit of pizzazz to your first dance or even use them with your wedding photographer later in the evening.⁣

Lighting is a great investment for your wedding day. With plenty of options to choose from, our team would love to hear from you and guide you on the best lighting option for your big day!
