BISCI live stream

Covid has changed the way the world works, as traveling and experiencing events or conferences in person is becoming less of an option the online world has taken off. Live Streaming and hybrid conferences have been on the rise, as the need to remotely communicate ideas and experiences with your colleagues and customers has never been greater.

When planning your live stream, there’s a range of things to consider. Who will be watching? Who needs to be on camera? Where will these people be placed in the room? Can everyone be heard on the live stream? Is my internet connection strong enough? Gravity has a wealth of experience in running live streams, and knows the questions that need to be asked prior to your event. Gravity utilizes a full suite of equipment from brands such as Blackmagic, Sony, Sennheiser and Allen & Heath to provide high quality AV experiences, and our in-house techs have experience in this field and can help make any Hybrid or online event a success.

Gravity Events was engaged by BISCI, a Global Leader in ICT Education, Certification and Standards, to virtually host their Dunedin Conference. This included managing a Zoom call with remote speakers, including their CEO and guest speakers, a multi camera set up in the physical venue and live streaming this onto Youtube while still providing world class AV locally for those who were physically at the event which included wireless lapel microphones, 4k TVs and crisp audio.

For the BISCI live stream, we used two cameras, one was a fixed shot of the lectern area, and the second was an operated camera placed off to the side to allow the operator to capture close ups of anyone asking questions during the event to the zoom speakers. We also had two TVs to display the remote speakers, along with any powerpoints on the day. We had three different video mixers. One was providing video directly to the live stream, another was going onto the TVs in the room, and a third was the camera feed into Zoom. We found that it was beneficial to have a separate feed going into zoom (rather than just using the live stream feed) as it allowed us to show a local person asking a question to a guest speaker on zoom, and the guest speaker can answer that question while looking at the person over zoom. This added to the “real life” feel and flow of a conference while also giving a slick experience for those in person at the local conference as well as for those who were watching online. We also had separate audio sends, which meant we could use a microphone to privately talk to a zoom speaker prior to their speech in the live stream. This was a great way to check in with the speakers while also making sure we were getting a clean audio and picture signal from them (and to make sure they have unmuted their mic!)

The BISCI Dunedin Conference was a great success and Gravity was honoured to bring a world class experience not only locally but also online.

In a Covid world where live streaming, online experiences and hybrid conferences are becoming the way of the future, if you would like to find out more about how to successfully livestream your event get in touch with our team today!
